Medical Treatment

Hair fall in both males or females, can become a matter of embarrassment at a point but if treated

at an early stage can prevent balding. Medical treatments are carefully designed for thinning hair ceasing excess hair loss in males or females. Medications approved by FDA (Food and Drug Association) are prescribed at Eugenix for safe and efficient pattern baldness treatment. Available therapy sessions can be included for quicker results. Also, medical treatment can be included for constant hair growth after hair transplant.

Medical Treatment

  • Finasteride
  • Minoxidil
  • Biotin
  • Saw-palmetto
  • Platelet rich plasma (injectable therapy for scalp)

The exact mechanism by which minoxidil acts is not properly elucidated. It is thought to improve blood supply to the area and improve hair growth. The thin miniaturised hair becomes thick.

It is available in 2%, 5% and 10% concentration in lotion and foam formulation. It should be applied twice daily and gently massaged on the scalp.  It is well tolerated. Few patients report itching after applcation. This can be due to allergy to alcohol content in the solution. These patients benefit by switching to foam formulation.

It is an enzyme inhibitor which blocks the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Dht hormone is considered to be responsible for male pattern baldness. Oral finasteride taken daily improves hair loss and prevents the progression of baldness.

It is a well tolerated medication.

Dietary deficiency of essential nutrients could also lead to hair loss. Hence, supplements as prescribed by the doctor can be taken to alleviate the problem.

Medical treatment is effective but the effects last as long as the therapy is taken. The results may reverse after cessation of medicines.
